چکیده

There have been several e orts to create and use real maps in computer applications that automatically nd good map routes. In general, online map representations do not include information that may be relevant for the purpose of generating good realistic routes, including for example tra c patterns, construction, or number of lanes. Furthermore, the notion of a good route is dependent on a variety of factors, such as the time of the day, and may also be user dependent. This motivation leads to our work on the accumulation and reuse of previously traversed routes as cases. In this paper, we demonstrate our route planning method which retrieves and reuses multiple past routing cases that collectively form a good basis for generating a new routing plan. We brie y present our similarity metric for retrieving a set of similar routes. The metric e ectively takes into account the geometric and continuous-valued characteristics of a city map. We then present the replay mechanism and how the planner produces the route plan by analogizing from the retrieved similar past routes. We discuss in particular the strategy used to merge a set of cases and generate the new route. We use illustrative examples and show some empirical results from a detailed online map of the city of Pittsburgh containing over 18,000 intersections and 25,000 street segments.

Route Planning and Learning from Execution

There is a variety ofapplications thatcan benefit from the ability oautomatically find optimal orgood routes from real maps. There have been therefore several efforts ocreate and use real maps in computer applications. However, for the purpose ofroute planning, maps cannot beseen as static and complete, as there are dynamic factors and missing information that affect the selection of good route...

Modeling different decision strategies in a time tabled multimodal route planning by integrating the quantifier-guided OWA operators, fuzzy AHP weighting method and TOPSIS

The purpose of Multi-modal Multi-criteria Personalized Route Planning (MMPRP) is to provide an optimal route between an origin-destination pair by considering weights of effective criteria in a way this route can be a combination of public and private modes of transportation. In this paper, the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (fuzzy AHP) and the quantifier-guided ordered weighted averaging (...

Architects and Engineers Differences: A comparison between problem solving performances of architects and engineers in the ideation phase of an analogy-based design

This study examines how analogy affects problem-solving in ideation phase of design among architects and engineers. For this purpose, a design problem was given to master and Ph.D. students of engineering and architecture. They were given two optional analogy sources to choose and be inspired by one. From the analysis of design sessions, using different coding groups and the application of the ...

TRANSPORT ROUTE PLANNING MODELS BASED ON FUZZY APPROACH

Transport route planning is one of the most important and frequent activities in supply chain management. The design of information systems for route planning in real contexts faces two relevant challenges: the complexity of the planning and the lack of complete and precise information. The purpose of this paper is to nd methods for the development of transport route planning in uncertainty dec...

Exploiting domain geometry in analogical route planning

Automated route planning consists of using real maps to automatically nd good map routes. Two shortcomings to standard methods are (i) that domain information may be lacking, and (ii) that a \good" route can be hard to de ne. Most on-line map representations do not include information that may be relevant for the purpose of generating good realistic routes, such as tra c patterns, construction,...
